ESCHATOLOGY – the study of the “last things” or the “end of a thing.”
Question: What Comes to your mind when you think of Jesus’ 2nd Coming and Eschatology?
Why do some people LOVE eschatology?
Why do some people hate eschatology?
Unfortunately are a lot of Bible-abuse and bad teaching around The Return of Christ.
Because of this, people joke about being a PAN-Millennial – “it’ll all pan out in the end.”
This is the worst position you can take!
Of all the Four Folds this is strangely the only one we excuse bad attitudes about.
JESUS IS OUR SAVIOR: We know that, we love that
JESUS IS OUR HEALER: We value that and pray for that
JESUS IS OUR SANCTIFIER: We believe holiness increases from His work in our lives
JESUS IS OUR COMING KING: hey don’t be a weirdo or care about that too much…
WE MUST CARE ABOUT CHRIST’S RETURN
We have a King who is coming again for us. That truth needs to change the way we live NOW.

Jesus’ Return is Imminent
We wont know the day or the time, but Jesus said in Revelation 22 – I am coming SOON.
Read: Revelation 22:7, 12, 20
Idk what you think of as soon – but probably not 2000 years.
Typically the Bible Translations we use are the best – they are amazing.
Greek Word: TACHU – quickly, suddenly, promptly, soon, imminently
Read 2 Peter 3:1-14– People scoffed at Christians who trusted Jesus to come back – With God a day is like 1000 years and 1000 years is like a day.
Doctrine of Imminence – Our king could return at any moment – any time. Its imminent and we are to be expectant and ready.
Many Modern Prophecy buffs ignorantly go against the Doctrine of Imminence…
Question: Have you heard people say that (A) or (B) must happen then Jesus can come back?

Imminence Requires us to be Awake, Dressed and Working
Parable of the Watchful Servant – Luke 12:35- 40
The Devil uses things like drugs, alcohol, porn, work, concerns of this world, fear, doubt, apathy, etc to lull people to sleep.
Question: What has the devil lulled you to sleep with in the past?
Churches used to have paid Sluggard Wakers – How can we keep ourselves and each other awake?
2 Peter 3:12 – Bring Back the King?
Matthew 24:14 – it will be preached to all nations then the end will come.
This is what motivates the C&MA to send International Workers & Churches to reach our Neighbors!
Jesus’ Return Will Be Personal
READ: 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 – JESUS HIMSELF WILL COME BACK
Not a concept of Jesus – or an aspect of his character
Not A Messiah – like another messiah the office.
Not a Delegated Return (islam has the mahdi coming before Jesus does)
Not a representative – Baha’I teach this. A messenger, Arch angel or someone.
Jesus himself is coming in his physical body and we will get to be with HIM forever.
Acts 1:9-11 – Same way he left.
Jesus Himself is Coming – Jesus himself is the King!
We aren’t just called to know this, we are called to believe this: Like Diet & Exercise – the one who believes actually does it.
1 Corinthians 15 – 58 Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.
Swimming Mice Experiment: Richter 1950s
Control Group: On average, the rats swam for about 15 minutes before they stopped struggling and began to sink.
The "Hope" Group: With a second group of rats, Richter did something different. Just as they were about to give up (around the 15-minute mark), he would reach in, pluck them out, dry them off, and let them rest.
They swam for up to 2 hours!
Salvation Group – gave them food and dried them off.
The Result: After a short break, he put them back in. This time, the rats didn't swim for another 15 minutes. They swam for an average of 60 hours.
We can fully give ourselves to the Work of God because we know its not in vain!

Visible – He will VISIBLY show up.

Christ’s Visible Return = Scam Proof Christians
Question: Have you heard of any End Times Scams?

Not a spiritual return – you will see it physically.
Jesus did not return in anyone’s heart…
He won’t just come back to a select few in a secret room.
Gnosticism taught that a spiritual elite would receive him and the rest would miss out.
People have claimed Jesus is back and he is living here in this remote compound…
Jehovah’s witnesses claimed an invisible return in 1914 and multiple in the 1970s
You don’t need to be an early adopter. No pressure to quickly accept its Christ.
Anti-anxiety – you cant miss it. You don’t have to crack a code to notice it.
2 Timothy 2:17-18 Hymenaeus taught that the resurrection already happened…
Do not worry – you cannot miss it.
PREMILLENIAL – Jesus will come to RULE as King for “1,000 years” of peace before the New Earth
HE HIMSELF COMING means an effect – he changes tings he fixes things!

He will make all things right – when he comes. 1,000 years of peace – before an Eternity of Peace.
Victorious over evil
Read: 1 Corinthians 15:24-27
24 Then comes the end, when he delivers the kingdom to God the Father after destroying every rule and every authority and power. 25 For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. 26 The last enemy to be destroyed is death. 27 For “God[c] has put all things in subjection under his feet.” But when it says, “all things are put in subjection,” it is plain that he is excepted who put all things in subjection under him.
2 Corinthians 4:4 “the god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers…”
John 12:31 “…the prince of this world will be driven out.”
Ephesians 2:2 “the prince of the power of the air,”
1 John 5:19 “the whole world is under the control of the evil one.”
When Jesus comes, He is Coming as KING – taking what is Rightfully His.
No more death
No more sorrow
No more crying
No more pain
He’ll wipe away every tear and we will live with him forever.
But, We’re still here…He hasn’t come yet!
Question: Why hasn’t Jesus come yet?
Read: 2 Peter 3:9 – God isn’t being slow as some people think
His Slowness is his Grace…there are people who will believe, but haven’t yet.
I need to know and work to find that person who hasn’t turned to Christ yet! Jesus wants them saved.
Engage in Missions – Again!
Put your mind on Eternal things
Earth is Temporary – this should change our priorities, our purchases, our time, our decisions, all of it.
Encourage one another
Read: 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11
Remind yourself and remind others of Christ as Coming king!
Beng people of the kingdom In the midst of this world he has placed us in!
Question: How does knowing that Jesus is coming some day – encouraging for knowing what I am going through today?
Hope for Unbelieving Loved Ones
Abraham was “as good as dead” (Hebrews 11:12)
The Thief on the Cross basically was… (Luke 13:39-43)
The Demoniac possessed by Legion was worse than dead (Luke 8)
But it was not too late for Christ to save them.
If they are still alive, then there is still a chance for Jesus to have a victory for your loved one.
Question: Who are you praying for to believe in Jesus? Who have you written off as a lost cause?
